Innovations/Contributions in Teaching

a) Design of Curriculum;  Adapting to the changing technology and prolonged end of life care by including ethics of end of life decisions.  This is to sensitize medical students to be compassionate and develop understanding of issues in global context.

 

b)Sensitizing students to analyzing ethical components in day to day dilemmas.

 

c) Teaching methods: Forensic Psychiatry is enacted as a series of skits with narrator filling   info about legal judgements and rationale behind it.

 

d)Laboratory experiments

 

e) Evaluation methods;

Self assessment, and evaluating collaborative learning methods have been developed.  A group task is given and evaluation component involves how students fare in soft skills as well as knowledge component.

 

f)Preparation of resource material Including books, reading materials, Laboratory manuals etc.  Hand outs Practical are prepared by the faculty

 

g) Remedial Teaching / Student Counseling (academic); Micro teaching to train newly joined post graduates, and  make up classes are announced for students requiring additional support.  Topics are drawn up in consultation with students and Lunch time micro classes are offered followed by small assignments to equate it with one lecture class.  Ten such classes and 3 practs are usually announced with time and topic displayed on the notice board.
